The mission of Rambrai is situated in the heart of pine forest of the West Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. It was since 1980, that the Parish of Nongstoin opened a primary school in Rambrai, named St.John Bosco Primary School. It was run by the head Catechist and the lay people of the Nongstoin Parish.

In 1994, Fr. George Vanni SDB, a veteran missionary approached Sr. Ivy D’Souza FMA, the then Provincial asking to send the Salesian Sisters to take up the mission of Rambrai. She visited this mission on December 13, 1994 along with Sr. Linda Horne and Sr. Felicita Syngngoh. On January 2, 1995, Sr. Linda was entrusted with this mission with the help of four lay teachers. She was installed as the first animator on the December 8, 1996. Sr. Agnes Kurkalang and Sr. Patricia Nongkhlaw formed part of the community.
