Umswai, which borders Assam and Meghalaya belongs to the Diocese of Diphu. Seeing the great need for Evangelsization of the people in this area (L) Rt Rev. Bishop Mathai Kochuparambil SDB D.D. invited the FMAs to collaborate with the Salesians who started as a separate centre in 1976.

It was on October 24th 1985 that the sisters namely: Sr. Sylvestra Khonglah, Sr. Elizabeth Condpon and Sr. Alphonsa Karisinkal set foot on this new soil. It caters to the various needs of the tribes of Karbi Anglong district of Assam. At present this is the only house we have in the Diocese of Diphu. The house of Umswai has reached its silver jubilee this year and a solemn celebration marked this occassion
