Jun. 6. Don Bosco fever continues to grip the people of Shillong as thousands of the faithful flocked the Don Bosco Technical School campus on Sunday, the 5th of July to get the glimpse of the saint. The presence of the relic in DBTS offered to the faithful the chance to pray and intercede to God through the saint.
The youth mass at 10:00 am was celebrated by Archbishop Dominic Jala sdb, of Shillong in the presence of Fr. Joseph Almeida sdb, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Guwahati, Fr. Ethelbert Minj sdb, the Vice Provincial, Fr. L. B. Anthony sdb, the Rector of DBTS, Fr. A. L. Jose sdb, the coordinator of the relic committee of Shillong and a number of Salesians concelebrating in the Holy Eucharist.
Fr. L. B. Anthony, the Rector of DBTS at the beginning of the Holy Mass addressed and welcomed the faithful to DBTS. He said, `We Salesians are fortunate to have the relic of Don Bosco in our midst. We are working in his name and today Don Bosco has come to see our works.` He implored the faithful to pray to the saint for the grace of vocation and for the blessing of the saint upon their family.
Archbishop Dominic Jala, in his homily narrated to the faithful the life of Don Bosco. He stressed on the words of Mamma Margaret to her son Bosco on his ordination day. `Remember my son, to begin to say mass is to begin to suffer.` The words of his mother remained with Don Bosco from that moment up to the end of his life.
Archbishop Jala continued that being `The World Communication Day,` the people of Shillong are fortunate to receive the casket containing the right hand of Don Bosco. `The hand of Don Bosco which had written more than 145 books and articles is here in our midst. It is a privilege and a grace for those involved in this profession to receive a special blessing from the saint.` He said.
The mass which lasted for two and a half hour was well attended by the youth of Shillong. The faithful continued to pay their homage to the relic of Don Bosco even after the Holy Eucharist.
