For an Easter of Peace - Mother Yvonne

13 April 2017 - Rome (Italia). The Easter message of Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians sent from Guwahati (India): “I wish to reach each of you, the educating communities, the young people, every person who suffers in silence, in abandonment, in poverty, and is humiliated in various ways, in their dignity as creatures wanted and loved by God. The Resurrection of Jesus is the Good News for everyone! It is the light that rises in the darkness and opens the way to the future in the places where all seemed deprived of horizons!”

Below is the complete textFor an Easter of Peace!

Dearest sisters,
From India, where I am visiting the sisters of the Provinces of Shillong and Guwahati, so rich in culture and spirituality and signs of life with their challenges and their hopes, I wish you an Easter of joy, peace, and hope.
I wish to reach each of you, the educating communities, the young people, every person who suffers in silence, in abandonment, in poverty, and is humiliated in various ways, in their dignity as creatures wanted and loved by God.
The Resurrection of Jesus is the Good News for everyone!  It is the light that rises in the darkness and opens the way to the future in the places where all seemed deprived of horizons!
Jesus is alive!  Do we feel this?  Do we discover Him present in our life, in our history?
Personally, I am very struck by the many signs manifesting that He is alive in the many people I meet in the whole world.  This experience increases my total hope and trust in Him!
The light of the Resurrection rises even in these difficult times we are living because of the inhuman violence that hits, above all, the persons most vulnerable: children, young people, families, the poor, refugees, migrants.  We are not indifferent to these situations, but we feel deeply called to act  with courage, deciding to be “artificers of peace”, not with grand gestures that are not possible for us, but through little sacrifices, concrete daily choices that make our communities “gospels of peace”, thus becoming the signs of the resurrection of Jesus who wants to manifest Himself through us.
There are numerous communities that live in situations of great precariousness due to the war or other forms of violence and who decide to remain, even at the risk of their life, in order to keep hope alive and proclaim that life is stronger than death, that peace is possible and rightful because it is everyone’s right.

We want to be in solidarity with them and among ourselves, valuing every occasion to sow “Easter gestures” of understanding, benevolence, and reciprocal help of a material and spiritual kind.  They are little drops of the good:  precious drops that, with great generosity, we want to place to really live the Easter of Jesus and witness to it as ‘risen women’.
Let us receive with an open heart, the invitation of Pope Francis addressed to people of good will: “In this year of 2017, we want to commit ourselves with prayer and action, to become people who have banished violence from their heart, from their words, and from their gestures; to build a non-violent community able to take care of our common home.  Nothing is impossible if we turn to God in prayer.  We can all be artisans of peace” (Message for World Day of Peace 2017).
It deals with a demanding journey which we desire to take without tiring, together with all the people who dream of an Easter of resurrection for the whole Human Family.
I think of all the young people, who through various forms of volunteering, are ready to face fatigue, to give their competencies, to share with other young people their search for roads of peace and justice.  It is a dream in which we believe and which we support.

I conclude this message, thanking you for the many greetings that I have received.  I reciprocate with prayer, with the deep desire to be in communion with all of you and with gratitude for your untiring work in witnessing to the joy that the Risen Jesus came to bring us.

To Mary, the Easter Woman, I entrust your life and your mission.
